Due to my Cystic Fibrosis I am not comfortable seeking work during the COVID -19 Pandemic. I do not have the capabilities to work as an Essential worker. Due to COVID 19 all nightlife has been closed since March in NYC. I was approved for unemployment and am receiving $182 weekly.
I've lost all work since March 11th. The infrastructure for how I made work has disappeared. My chronic illness has taken a turn for the worse, and I have medical costs I'm trying to figure out how to pay for.
I have lost all my jobs because hotels are closed, airports are closed, people are not moving anywhere because they can not move and should not. This is the safe thing to do, especially because I am in New York which is hit so hard. However, I have a family of five to support. I have three daughters: two are in college and one is in high school. One daughter just finished her second year of college and she is in a medical school program. Her medical school program cost is not cheap with all the supplies and books she needs. She works with a used 2011 laptop to complete her homework and her tests at home. It is difficult for me to see and not be able to help. All of my daughters went to Specialized High Schools. My oldest daughter went to Bronx Science and my two youngest went to Stuyvesant. I always tell them school before anything and I would sell everything for them to complete school because in Bangladesh my wife and I never had the chance to. Gig driving was something and the only thing that came easy for an immigrant like me to quickly learn. Without it, I cannot pay the bills or pay my daughters tuitions, books, and supplies. Coronavirus has taken away my only means of paying for everything, and left my family in terrible circumstances. Any and every help is greatly appreciated.
I haven’t been able to make ends meet my father is out of work and cannot work because he is immunocompromised, we are behind in rent and we barely make it to buy enough groceries for me and my kids.
I’m a single mother indigenous really needing help, I’m trying not to quit my last class in order to graduate but work, rent due, bills and food is making me want to

I am a contracted consultant hired by small businesses & individuals in the entertainment and educational industries. My biggest clients provides luxury services, business networking events and fashion events. Because of COVID all scheduled events have been cancelled in NYC. This is how most of my money is made as I provide event & production management services. No events means no income for me and this a strain for me who is a divorced mother of an 11yr old girl.

I have not had a paid writing assignment since February 2020. I had been writing for online and print magazines. Prior to the Corona virus, I had several "pitches" (article ideas) sent out to editors at various publications. However, none of them "landed," which means I did not receive assignments. Freelance publications are dealing with uncertainty at this time and hiring freelance writers has been affected. Also, prior to Corona, in January, I had been in touch with a librarian at a Brooklyn Public Library branch, and was to have started teaching writing classes at the library branch. But, the Brooklyn Public Library closed (the main library and 58 branches in Brooklyn), and so there was no possibility for teaching classes in the foreseeable future.
As a freelance writer, I from time to time do other types of work for pay (like teaching classes). I had been prepared to work part-time, temporary for the US 2020 Census, as an Enumerator. I put in my application more than a year ago. I had received confirmation that I would be offered a position and the Census was to have started in April. However, due to Corona, the position never materialized and I don't know whether it will.
I am once again sending out article idea pitches, but I do not know if and when I will get some writing gigs.
For 10 years I have raised my 2 kids solely on my freelance work. I cleaned one house per week. I taught piano on a community piano. I tutored high needs kids in person. I taught in person math and science classes and ran after school clubs. We had little, but wanted for nothing. 2019 was full of hospitals and doctors as we worked to determine cause and path for one child's chronic lung disease. All savings were spent surviving that year. Now Covid. Inside - all of the time. High risk - cannot go out. Zero income. Tiny amount of unemployment just started - not a livable income. We own no piano - so continuing to teach and transitioning this to online is not feasible. We don't own a laptop or other devices for transitioning to online teaching. Food donations do not include allergy safe foods - so unfortunately are not a help. All bills are overdue and keep piling up. Being cooped up inside a tiny apt is not helping lung health...but neighbors not wearing masks makes it vital we stay in....until/maybe we can find a new location to be. Covid has made our lives h___l. We spent the first two months of Covid just plain hungry. Now we search for a way to help others - but need some help ourselves - - financial support to convert income to being virtual/at home income - because as a high risk family, we'll be inside for much longer.
I assist residents with normal household duties, that they aren't able to do on their own due to their health limitations. These services include but not limited to- Laundry, Food Preparation, Hair Care, Bathing, House cleaning, Household Organization, exercise, and motivational activities.
I am a BMCC first-year college student and I live at home with my mother and 5 siblings. Although my mom is a school teacher we're often finding ourselves struggling to obtain household supplies, food, and laundry money. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, everyone's been home and things have become more costly. My mother is a single parent and finding ways to purchase necessity items is becoming a hassle. I was working two jobs to help out with rent and food expenses- which included caregiving and part-time as a fast food employee- however since the lost of my fast food job and the halt on working with the elderly I haven't been able to help out as much. I am now currently 6 months pregnant and expecting a son in September. So my household will be expanding and I'm struggling with figuring out how to support this change.
